Top man Tylor's staying at Alty!

Phil Parkinson has taken another significant stride towards creating a squad equipped for another promotion push next season after key defender Tylor Golden agreed to extend his stay at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Snapped up from FC Halifax Town last summer, the 25-year old full-back proved everything Phil hoped he would be on his debut season in Alty colours, rock-solid defensively and frequently taking the eye with attacking sorties down either flank.

Now, the Robins can count on that consistently high-calibre contribution once more after the versatile defender put his name to a new deal for the 2025-26 campaign.

It's another important breakthrough in a busy round of contract talks, after midfielder Isaac Marriott, central defender Jake Cooper and right-back Lewis Banks recently accepted new terms, and Tylor underlined his determination to help Alty go one better than last season's near-miss in the battle for play-off places,

"I felt like my first season was a successful one for myself," he said. "I enjoyed it thoroughly, but I know I have even more in the locker and I'm eager to show it.

"I'm determined and ready to right the wrong of how the season ended last time out. We let ourselves down, but we will learn from those mistakes to achieve our goals because the quality of this squad and staff is too great not to have at least a play-off campaign.

"It’s been torture to watch the others taking part in the play-offs in recent weeks, so everything will be done to ensure there’s no repeat of that for us next season."

Tylor certainly hit the ground running last August, going on for his debut as a 12th-minute substitute, following a straight red card for Eddy Jones, and curling an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the Woking net just 14 minutes later to give the Robins a 1-0 opening-day win.

It was voted goal of the season at the AO-sponsored end-of-campaign awards night at The J.Davidson Stadium, and Phil sees his continuing presence as a massive plus-point in his plans for 2025-26.

"I'm really pleased to have recaptured Tylor's signature," he said. "His excellent displays at both left-back and right-back have firmly established him as an Alty fans' favourite.

"He has grown and improved immeasurably since joining us from Halifax. He is a truly valuable asset to Altrincham and valuable member of our squad, and hopefully he can drive us forward again next season."

Here's to a successful campaign for you and the team next season, Tylor - we're all looking forward to seeing you in Alty colours again.
