Reaction from Lancaster | Phil Parkinson
PLENTY of positives to take from Saturday's 1-1 draw at Lancaster City, which saw the majority of our first team players make their seasonal bows.
Joe Nuttall scored on his debut and fellow new signing Tom Crawford rattled the crossbar during a second half that saw the Robins dominate for long periods.
Manager Phil Parkinson was happy with what he witnessed at Giant Axe.
"It's another pre-season game chalked off and another chance for the trialists to be seen in and around the first team, giving us the chance to compare and contrast with what we've already got in the squad.
"There was a bit of ring rust, which is to be expected, but we've come through injury free, which is a bonus.
"There were lots of positives for the fans to see, including watching our new signings in action. Joe Nuttall getting off the mark and showing what he'll bring to the table, giving the team a different dimension. Lucas Weaver giving his full back a fresh pair of heels. Tom Crawford hitting the crossbar in the second half. I was also pleased with the performance of Afernee Denise; he's got a really bright future in the game.
"There's another 45 minutes to look forward to for everyone over at Cheadle on Tuesday. We're looking at marginal improvements game-on-game, week-on-week, as we get closer to the new season beginning on August 10th."
Don't forget there are two opportunities to watch the Robins on home soil this pre-season, ahead of the Vanarama National League's Opening Day on Saturday, August 10th.
Tickets for the games against League Two outfits Salford City (Tuesday, July 23rd) and Bradford City (Saturday, August 3rd) are on sale now.
