Altrincham look for back-to-back wins as we travel to The Lamb Ground to face Tamworth in the Vanarama National League on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Setting the Scene
Altrincham performed magnificently in our last game to beat an in-form Dagenham & Redbridge side 2-1 at The J. Davidson Stadium.
After Regan Linney’s goal in the first 30 seconds was cancelled out by Dion Pereira’s penalty late in the first half, Tom Crawford scored his first goal in Alty colours to earn the Robins all three points.
Our fourth win of the campaign saw us rise significantly in the table to leave us in 11th with 15 points. We face Tamworth on Saturday, who are only one point behind in 16th.
Tamworth endured a difficult start to life back in the Vanarama National League after their promotion from the National League North last season, but after winning only once in their first seven games, Andy Peaks’ men have won three in a row, making them one of the form sides in the division.
The Gaffer
“I’m really happy with where we’re at as a team at the moment, and I really believe that we will kick on and we will push on but you need to be patient with us. It’s not always plain sailing, football’s never like that.
“It’s not a fairy tale; it’s a windy road with a lot of bumps in and we’ve hit a few of
them during the start of the season that people wouldn’t have expected. We’re
absolutely fine, and we’ll go from strength to strength.”
Last time against Tamworth
April 2017 – The Robins suffered defeat against Tamworth the last time the two sides met, over seven years ago.
James Lawrie gave Altrincham a first-half lead, but goals from Callum Powell and
Danny Newton for the Lambs in the second period earned them the three points.
