Altrincham resume their National League Cup campaign in front of a sell-out
crowd at the J. Davidson Stadium as we welcome Manchester United PL2 this evening (gates at 6pm | kick-off at 7.30pm).

Setting the Scene

The Robins extended our ongoing unbeaten streak to five games with an impressive 2-0 victory over Southend United on Saturday.

Joe Nuttall got on the scoresheet for the first time in Altrincham colours to give Alty an early lead, and Alex Newby doubled the advantage just before half-time.

The Robins’ dynamic build-up play and quick combinations proved difficult for the
Shrimpers to deal with, but the second period was about staying firm defensively for Alty, with debutant Harvey Randle earning a well-deserved clean sheet.

Saturday’s victory leaves Altrincham just two points outside the playoffs in 10th place with 27 points from the first 18 matches of the season. Tuesday's opponents find themselves 14th in Premier League 2, with their last outing coming in the EFL Trophy at Huddersfield Town last week.

Director of Football, Marc Tierney

"Tuesday's game at The J Davidson Stadium promises to be an exciting encounter against Manchester United under-21s. The management team and players are looking forward to the challenge of facing a youthful and talented side.

"I had the privilege of playing against such a prestigious club during my playing career and of course my brother Paul was one of few people to wear the shirt for both teams on show for you this evening.

"Speaking with Phil (Parkinson) prior to this midweek encounter, we're aiming to build on the momentum of our recent positive results and performances that sees us unbeaten in the last five games. Tonight becomes a further opportunity to test our resolve against a high calibre opponent."

The National League Cup so far

The Robins opened their National League Cup campaign with a penalty shoot-out victory over Blackburn Rovers at the start of October, following an entertaining 3-3 draw in front of nearly 800 fans.

Manchester United under-21s began their group stage schedule with a 3-2 win at Vanarama National League leaders Forest Green Rovers.
