Altrincham will play in front of the DAZN cameras for the first time on Saturday as we travel to Mill Farm to face AFC Fylde in the Vanarama National League (5.30pm kick-off).

Setting the Scene

The Robins overcame an early setback on Wednesday night to rescue a point against Hartlepool at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Nathan Sheron gave the Pools a lead after just five minutes, with a blistering volley from the edge of the area past Ethan Ross. It was a slow start from Altrincham, but Phil Parkinson quickly got his players firing, and Lewis Banks equalised just before the half-hour mark.

With both teams searching for a winner, the game became very stretched at times, but neither side could find a late goal, and the game finished 1-1. The point leaves Altrincham in 13th, just four points behind Solihull Moors in the last play-off spot.

Our opponents have had a difficult start to the campaign, as they sit in 20th place, with 15 points from their first 15 games.

Their league position does not reflect their quality, however. After Kevin Phillips’ recent appointment as manager, Fylde have just picked up a victory against Boston United.

Furthermore, they are the club with the league’s top goal scorer in their ranks; Nick Haughton has scored 11 goals so far this season, including a magnificent strike from the halfway line.

The Gaffer

“We’re a progressive team, we want to take the game to the opponent. Obviously, we will have different personnel to counteract their [Fylde] personnel and try and exploit their weaknesses.

“We’re a team that won’t sit off, we’re going to go for anybody we come up against and I think it’ll make for a really entertaining game because I feel Fylde are that type of team as well.”

Last time against AFC Fylde

December 2023 – Altrincham secured all three points in the last meeting between the Robins and AFC Fylde.

Connor Barrett gave the Coasters an early lead, but it was later cancelled out by a stunning brace from Chris Conn-Clarke, whose two screamers gave Altrincham a 2-1 win.
