Olly signs on and vows to make up for lost time next season!

Olly Crankshaw has vowed to "hit the ground running" next season after becoming the latest Altrincham player to commit to a new contract at The J.Davidson Stadium.

The goalscoring winger suffered the misfortune of having his debut season with the Robins curtailed by an anterior cruciate ligament injury away to Barnet shortly after joining us from Stockport County nearly two years ago.

It has been a long road back, but after putting in the graft to regain full fitness and accepting terms on a new deal, Olly underlined his determination to show Alty fans the dazzling wing-play and eye for goal that made him such a firm crowd favourite at Edgeley Park.

"I really appreciate the club and especially the gaffer putting faith in me, and I fully intend justifying it with my efforts on the pitch next season," he said. "I’ve been working really hard to make sure I'm in the best possible condition to hit the ground running when the new campaign gets underway.

"This coming season is personal for me. I'll be making it my business to show all the fans who I am as a person and as a player, and I can’t wait to get going."

After securing his services for 2025-26, manager Phil Parkinson explained why he is convinced Alty will reap the rewards of opting for a safety-first approach to Olly's lengthy recuperation last season.

"I'm really pleased to have signed Olly again," he said. "He is another player who has had nothing but bad luck in his time at the football club.

"But the reason we have signed him is that we believe he has got the capability to be the best player in the division.

"I feel he is over his injury problems now. I was very, very careful with him at the back end of last season, having one eye on this coming season and knowing that we would probably lose a Regan Linney and potentially an Alex Newby.

"I believe that, with what we have signed and with a fully-fit Olly Crankshaw, we can replace those goals and still be a potent force going forward, with lots of assists and goals in that front line.

"A fit Olly Crankshaw would be a marquee player for any team in this division."

Fit and firing and raring to go - we're all counting the days to seeing you in a new-look Alty attack, Olly! All the very best for a successful season in 2025-26.
