Latest update on Joseph's training for 'No Limits' Challenge
Altrincham fan and volunteer Joseph Adams is taking on the challenge of a lifetime later this year, running a total of 100 kilometres in 10 different countries over five days to raise funds for the club's work in the community, and we are with him all the way as he builds up to what will be an astonishing feat of endurance.
Preparation is everything, of course, and dad Phil has been supervising Joseph's workload to ensure he has the best chance of being in peak physical condition when he embarks on the challenge towards the end of August.
There was an unexpected helping hand, or should we say pedal, this morning when Joseph was invited to join Cameron Fillery on a tandem bike ride (main picture).
Cameron is undertaking a significant challenge of his own after announcing he is riding his tandem the furthest possible distance in the UK, between Land's End and John O'Groats, to raise money for the mental health charity Mind.
Phil is kindly keeping us up to speed on Joseph's training, and here is his latest update:
Joseph's Challenge - Week 6
First setback - heading out for an 8k run which would have been Joseph's longest so far, he felt a pain in his knee, which meant we had to stop.
Visited the fantastic team at the Body Clinic in Hale for some physio followed by a week of R&R.
Eased back in with a 2k walk on Sunday and a 1k run on Tuesday - so far so good. Route planning developing - and support growing and growing. An amazing £43,000 raised so far.
Excitement building for Wembley on Friday! (As mentioned in the Week 5 report, the Chair of the FA, Debbie Hewitt, has invited Joseph to attend England's final warm-up game before the Euro 2024 tournament against Iceland as her guest).
*Listen out for Phil and Joseph discussing the challenge on BBC Radio Manchester at around 6.30pm tomorrow.
As can be seen from these two lovely images, Joseph was a golden boy from a very early age! Go on, Joseph, you can do it - let's see you up on that winner's rostrum again when you complete your incredible challenge!
Don't forget, if you're interested in joining Joseph on his 10th and final 10k of the 'No Limits' Challenge on September 1st, entries are open for the Altrincham 10k which goes right past the J.Davidson Stadium.
