Great point on the road as young Robins roar back from 3-1 down

The young Robins travelled over to York City to try and grab three National League points away from home.

For the first 10 minutes, York had a lot of the possession, creating some dangerous chances, and they went ahead soon after.

A York player found himself through on goal in a one-on-one with Alty keeper Max Beddow, and he calmly placed his finish into the bottom corner of the net to make it 1-0.

However, Altrincham started to pick up some pace, moving the ball quickly through the feet of midfielders Raymond and Weston, which enabled wide players Chandler and Gonzales to start feeding balls into the box.

In the 25th minute, Raymond found the feet of Gonzales, who picked out Shtyhlian at the front post to tap the ball past the York goalkeeper for an Alty equaliser.

More clear chances were created by both teams, but it was York who went ahead again after they won a corner in the 35th minute that was delivered deep towards the back post.

When the ball was headed back into the danger area, there was an easy close-range tap-in for York that gave them a 2-1 half-time lead.

Both sides looked determined to make an impact in a second half that began with an Alty substitution, as Watson came on for Weston.

The game had become a hard battle, and both teams were struggling to keep the ball.

However, in the 65th minute, a centre by York's half-time substitute across the six-yard box was headed home to make it 3-1 to the home side.

Altrincham responded with a double substitution, as Howells came on for Whittle and Mannion replaced Chandler, and it didn't take long for the young Robins to start exerting pressure.

A ball threaded into Manion was fired across the box to Raymond, and when his shot was blocked, Gonzales was on hand to finish it off and reduce Alty's arrears.

The Robins gathered more momentum, creating more chances and moving the ball well, and they were back on level terms in the 80th minute.

Manion had found himself caught in a tricky position, where he laid the ball off to centre-back Bywater in a wide position to cross the ball into the box.

To the delight of his team-mates, Bywater's delivery started veering towards the back post and then swerved into the top corner of the net to bring Alty back to 3-3.

The game soon became a battle, as yellow cards were given out to Knowles and Powell, but with Alty defending resolutely, they were able to head home with a point from an eventful encounter.
