Footy for a Fiver returns!

Altrincham are slashing admission prices to just £5 for adults for a forthcoming fixture in an attempt to further boost their growing fanbase and attract people along to The J.Davidson Stadium in even greater numbers.

Called Footy for a Fiver, the scheme will be implemented for the visit of Kidderminster Harriers next month, with the intention of giving families an affordable opportunity to see for themselves the giant strides taken by Alty on and off the pitch in recent times.

On the field, the team's fortunes have been transformed under manager Phil Parkinson and his assistant Neil Sorvel, with two quickly-delivered promotions taking them back to the Vanarama National League and an attractive style of play underpinning a positive start to the current campaign.

Off it, an ambitious, forward-thinking board have put the club on a sound financial footing by securing substantial investment and also enhanced the matchday experience for supporters with the launch of a well-equipped fan zone and a Junior Robins club, among many other initiatives and improvements in and around the ground.

Now, the aim is to reach out to the community and draw as many people as possible to the club's iconic Moss Lane stadium to experience first-hand all that's on offer against Kidderminster on Tuesday October 24th (kick-off 7.45pm), with adults paying just £5 each, children aged 5-11 £2.50 and under-5s £1.

"It's half-term for many schools in the area, so we felt it would be an ideal opportunity to encourage families to come along and sample the Alty matchday experience," said the club's Chief Executive Officer John Williams.

"It can be difficult during term time, with school the following morning, but this will make it easier for youngsters to attend a midweek game with family members and experience watching Altrincham under the lights on a Tuesday night.

"There's nothing like it. Any Alty fan will tell you that, and Phil Parkinson has often remarked on how the players relish playing under the lights before a packed home crowd and how they get a real lift from the atmosphere it generates.

"Kids will love it, but the scheme is not just aimed at families with young children.

"We want to engage the wider public as well and urge people of all ages from across the area to join us on a matchday. There is so much to enjoy and appreciate, from the standard of football to the range of food and drinks in the fan zone, the Community Sports Hall and kiosks and quality of facilities for hospitality.

"We are hopeful Footy for a Five will persuade people to come along in numbers to judge for themselves and confident that those who do will want to come again."

With the scheme open to away fans as well as home, a bumper crowd is anticipated, and it is recommended that tickets are purchased online here in advance, though it will also be possible to gain admission by cash at the turnstiles on the night.
