Altrincham are delighted to announce another newcomer to the playing ranks as talented 22-year-old midfielder George Wilson joins from Coalville Town.
Wilson was a standout player at Coalville during their excellent 2022/23 campaign where they managed to pull off numerous giantkilling acts in the FA Cup and FA Trophy and only narrowly missed out on promotion. The move is subject to NL and FA approval.
“I’m delighted we have managed to capture talented box-to-box midfielder George Wilson,’ said Alty manager Phil Parkinson. ‘He’s one of the brightest prospects coming through non-league at the moment.’
‘We have done really well to entice him to us; he believes this is the best place where he can blossom and enhance his career.’
‘He caught my eye last season where at his previous club Coalville Town, he ran the Notts County midfield ragged during their famous giant killing, he certainly was a standout performer.’
‘From there we did our research and discovered he was Northern-based player who was a standout performer in the Blackburn Academy.’
‘He played for Coalville due to him studying at Loughborough University where he’s developed mentally and physically.’
‘I wholehearted believe we have a real gem on our hands here, the plan for George is to get him to the National League North in or after pre-season.’
‘He’ll gain some valuable experience week in week out in a higher division than where he’s been. But I have a feeling he could push some of the senior midfielders this time so let’s see how pre-season goes.’
‘Watch this space, the boy can play!’
Welcome to The J.Davidson George, we’ll all be watching this space!
