Solihull Moors next up for in-form Alty - and it's our last home game for FOUR weeks!

By Joe Ward

Alty’s busy week of Vanarama National League action continues on Saturday when we host Solihull Moors at The J.Davidson Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Momentum is gathering for the Robins following another excellent result against promotion-chasing Barnet on Tuesday night.

After a physically challenging first half, Alty managed to keep themselves in the match thanks to a goal from our skipper Jordan Hulme and a massively important save from Ollie Byrne.

The Robins’ number one flung himself to tip over Dale Gorman’s effort, denying the Bees any breathing space as we headed into the break fortunate to be only 2-1 down.

However, after some harsh words from the gaffer at half-time, and a change in shape, the Robins started the second half on the front foot, equalising in the 54th minute through Maxi Oyedele.

Then goals in the 67th and 76th minute, from Regan Linney and Tyrese Sinclair respectively, left our hosts reeling as we overcame Barnet 4-2 at The Hive.

Solihull Moors, who sit above us in the table only on goal difference, come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to FC Halifax Town on Tuesday evening.

Manager’s Views

Hear from Vanarama’s ‘Manager of the Week’, Phil Parkinson, following our emphatic 4-2 victory over promotion-chasing Barnet.

About The Opposition

The Moors head into Saturday’s fixture having won just two of their last 12 league games. However, the West Midlands side will be eyeing up a return to winning ways following our recent history, which has seen the visitors win all our last five encounters.

Neal Ardley’s men boast the sixth-best away record in the table, capturing 22 of their points on the road.

In our last meeting, Solihull beat the Robins 5-1 at Damson Park thanks to goals from Josh Kelly, Callum Maycock and a second-half hat-trick from Alex Reid, who has since joined Oldham Athletic.

However, our visitors still possess plenty of attacking threat, particularly in the form of Andrew Dallas, who proudly leads their goal-scoring chart, netting 14 times in 34 appearances so far this season.

The 23-year-old will look to build on his last performance, which saw him score in the 1-1 draw at Halifax, as his side hope to keep Alty at bay.

A win for the Robins would see us leapfrog our visitors who currently sit on the same points with one game in hand.
