Altrincham vs Wealdstone match preview

Alty make a swift return to Vanarama National League action when Wealdstone come to The J.Davidson Stadium on Tuesday (7:45pm kick-off).
In a fixture that was postponed earlier on in the season following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Robins now face a much different Wealdstone side than we originally prepared for on Saturday, September 10th.
After the departure of topscorer Rhys Browne earlier last month, the Stones have struggled for form and head into tonight’s game off the back of a 4-1 thrashing away to Dagenham & Redbridge.
As for Alty, we similarly go into the fixture following a heavy loss to promotion favourites Wrexham. However, Phil Parkinson’s Robins will surely look to return to the brilliant run of form which has seen us win three of our last five league games.
About The Opposition
Wealdstone were promoted to the National League in 2019/20 after winning the National League South division under manager Dean Brennan. They finished 19th in an all but conventional first season back in the fifth tier of English football which saw the resignation of Brennan in February of 2021.
The Stones later appointed assistant manager Stuart Maynard in what would become his first ever managerial role. In Maynard’s first full season in charge (21/22) Wealdstone finished in a respectable 16th-place, making it their highest league finish in 35 years and just two points behind Alty.
Now, well into the new campaign, the Royals sit in the exact same position as they finished last season. However, despite a promising start which saw them win four of their opening five games, Wealdstone have struggled to continue that same momentum and go into tonight’s game having lost their last five league games.
After a summer of transfers, which included the departure of last season’s top scorer Josh Umerah, Wealdstone were hit with a further blow when the club reluctantly allowed Rhys Browne to join Woking earlier last month.
The 27-year-old scored seven goals in 13 games this season for the Stones making him their top scorer in the league. Since the striker’s departure, Wealdstone have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer but will be hoping to change their fortunes when we welcome them to The J.Davidson Stadium.

Matchday Information
After the successful soft launch of the Fan Zone against Oldham Athletic, work on fitting out the site has continued. Improvements in lighting, equipment and the fit out of the Pods proceeds apace. This will mean that the Fan Zone will be closed for the Wealdstone game. We hope to re-open for the Barnet game, but can confirm we will definitely be open for the York City televised fixture. We will update on Barnet as soon as we know for sure.
In the meantime, a range of craft beers in cans and bottles will be available in the Armstrong Projects Noel White VP Lounge for our LoyALTY members. This will become part of the standard offering in the Lounge going forward.
Turnstiles will open at 6:30pm.
We can announce that there will be no segregation for this game or for our following home fixture against Barnet (Nov 8th) next Tuesday night.
Please note we do not accept cards on the turnstiles so please buy online in advance or use the ATM opposite the ground at the convenience store.
We kindly ask all supporters – home and away – to arrive early to ensure you are in the ground in plenty of time for kick-off and avoid late queues.
Please note, all supporters will be searched with a metal detector on entry to the stadium for your own safety.
