Location: Egerton Training Ground and J.Davidson Stadium, Moss Lane; travel to all first team matches, pre-season tour etc. as required.

After eight years of progress on and off the pitch we are currently battling to win promotion from the National League to the EFL for the first time in our 134-year history.

About the Role:

AFC is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and innovative First Team Goalkeeper Coach to join our dynamic coaching staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, preparation, and performance of the club's professional goalkeepers, ensuring they are consistently performing at the highest level and contributing to the team's overall success. This is a crucial role requiring a deep understanding of modern goalkeeping techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Goalkeeper Development: Design and implement individual and group training programmes tailored to the specific needs and development goals of each first-team goalkeeper.

Match Preparation: Analyse opposition threats and prepare goalkeepers with detailed tactical and technical briefings for upcoming matches.

Performance Analysis: Monitor and evaluate goalkeeper performance in training and matches, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement using video analysis and data.

Technical Coaching: Deliver expert coaching on all aspects of goalkeeping, including shot-stopping, handling, footwork, positioning, distribution (hands and feet), aerial ability, and set-piece organisation.

Tactical Integration: Work closely with the First Team Manager and other coaching staff to ensure the goalkeepers understand and execute the team's tactical strategies.

Physical Conditioning: Collaborate with the sports science and medical departments to develop and monitor goalkeeper-specific physical conditioning programs, focusing on agility, power, speed, and injury prevention.

Recruitment Support: Assist in the identification and scouting of potential goalkeeping targets for the first team.

Professional Standards: Maintain the highest professional standards in all aspects of work, acting as a role model for players and staff.

Innovation and Development: Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in goalkeeping coaching methodologies and technologies, proactively seeking opportunities for continuous professional development.

Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to younger goalkeepers within the club's academy system when required, fostering a positive pathway for talent development.

Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate training records, performance data, and player development plans. 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Essential:

UEFA A Goalkeeping Licence or equivalent internationally recognised qualification.

Significant experience coaching professional goalkeepers at a high level (ideally within a first-team environment).

Proven track record of improving goalkeeper performance.

Excellent knowledge of modern goalkeeping techniques, tactics, and performance analysis.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Proficiency in using video analysis software and performance data platforms.

Valid driving license.

Eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable (but not essential):

Experience in scouting and recruitment of goalkeepers.

Degree in Sports Science or a related field.
