Alty return home to face Liverpool Feds Reserves
Altrincham FC Women have their first home game in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South since the start of December, taking on Liverpool Feds Reserves Women at Partington Sports Village.
It’s a case of bouncing back from two defeats for Daryll Abrahams’ side, losing 4-1 at
home in the Cheshire FA Women’s Cup quarter final to Wirral Phoenix before falling to a 2-1 away loss against Warrington Town Women.
On both occasions, Altrincham took the lead in the first half, though let themselves down with a drop in quality in the final 45 minutes.
Despite the recent drop in results, Francesca Boyle has maintained her excellent form, netting six goals in her first four first team appearances. She scored both goals in the Robins’ last victory, 2-1 over Sunday’s opponents Liverpool Feds, including a last-minute winner.
For the visitors, it’s their final game of a season to forget. Despite collecting five points from their first three games, Liverpool Feds Reserves have lost all 14 matches afterwards and due to a points deduction, sit on -1 points. Their motivation will be to avoid finishing the campaign with a negative points tally.
Elite U18
It’s a double matchday at Partington this weekend with Spencer O’Connor’s Elite U18 side returning to Cheshire Women & Youth Football League U18 Premier Division action against West Kirby U18 Women.
Last time out, a 7-0 victory over Altrincham Junior U17 Swifts saw the Elite U18s progress to the semi final of the Manchester FA Girls Cup U18, thanks to Hannah Worrell’s hattrick, a Mae Winchcombe brace and goals from Amelie Heathcote and Megan Hunt.
Whilst Wythenshawe still maintain their 100% record, a second place finish is more than attainable for the Robins with six league games remaining. Though currently sitting fourth, Alty have games in hand on Nantwich and Stockport above them.
West Kirby are in fifth and only two points behind Altrincham with 19. They go into the encounter during their best run of form this season, having won their last four and going unbeaten in five.
They go into the game off the back of a two week break, having most recently beaten Sandbach United U18 2-0 at home.
