Altrincham FC Women’s wait for a league game in 2026 goes on, as it’s cup action up next for the Robins, who travel to Chorley Women Development in the preliminary round of the Alliance Design and Print Plate. Kick off is at 2pm at Heron Eccles Playing Field, Abbottshey Ave, Greenleigh Rd, Liverpool L18 7JS.

Alty Women were set to face Warrington Town Women in the North West Regional League Division One South last Sunday, though the adverse weather conditions led to a postponement, with the game now rescheduled for Sunday, March 22.

As a result, the Robins last fixture came four weeks ago, also a cup game, losing out 3-0 against York City Ladies in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. It had been a remarkable run, as Daryll Abrahams’ side were the only step six side to reach the third round. Despite the result, it was a historic occasion at The J.Davidson Stadium.

In the league, Altrincham FC Women sit seventh, though have two or three games in hand on every other side except Chester FC Women. Though Alty most recently lost 1-0 to a strong Manchester Laces side, a 4-2 win over Nantwich Town Women, who hadn’t lost a league game in over a year, shows that the Robins can mix it with any side at this level.

Chorley Development also compete at step six in the North West Women’s Regional League, though in Division One North. They act as an Under 23 side to the first team, who are having a steady season in the FA Women’s National League, though the same can’t be said about the development side.

Having lost 11 of their 15 league games, Chorley Women Development sit just above the relegation zone in 8th, with a -44 goal difference. Their two victories have come against the bottom two sides in Fleetwood Town Wren Ladies Reserves and Morecambe FC Women.

Elite U18s

It’s a big game for Spencer O’Connor’s Elite U18 side, who face table toppers Wythenshawe FC U18 Girls at Partington Sports Village, also a 2pm kick off.

Whilst Wythenshawe have won all 11 league games this season, Altrincham themselves have only lost one and won the other seven, so will fancy their chances of being the first team to take points off the league leaders.

Unlike the first team, Altrincham FC Women Elite U18s were able to play last weekend, picking up a 4-1 victory over Kelsall FC Women U18. First team players Francesca Boyle and Millie Kullu gained minutes with the U18 side, with Boyle scoring twice and Kullu also on the scoresheet after Isabelle Breakell opened the scoring in the first half.
