Following a three-week Christmas break, Altrincham FC Women’s first game of 2026 is a trip to Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub to take on Warrington Town Women on Sunday.

The Robins’ remarkable Adobe Women’s FA Cup run came to an end last time out, putting in a valiant effort as the only step six ride remaining in the competition, but falling to a 3-0 defeat against step four side York City Ladies at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Before that, Daryll Abrahams’ side lost out 1-0 against 2nd placed Manchester Laces. The two defeats came after a couple of impressive victories; a 4-2 win over runaway league leaders Nantwich Town, the Dabbers’ first league defeat in over a year.

Alty also defeated step five side Ponteland United 1-0 in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup second round, so will be looking to return to that impressive run of form.

Altrincham sit 7th in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South, though have games in hand on every team except Chester FC. The Robins have picked up 12 points, and their first victory came in September against Sunday’s opponents, Warrington Town.

Georgia McKnight was on the scoresheet twice, with Emily Rutter and Kira Saycell also amongst the goals in a 4-1 victory at Partington Sports Village.

The Yellows are one place below Altrincham, though have played two games more. They go into the game on a three game winning streak, though two of those came against the division’s bottom two sides in Macclesfield FC and Liverpool Feds Reserves. The other came in Cheshire FA County Cup against Middlewich Town in the league below.

Due to postponements, Altrincham FC Women Elite U18s haven’t played since 23rd November, when they picked up an emphatic 4-0 victory away from home against Kelsall FC Women U18. They face the same opponents at Partington Sports Village on Sunday.

Spencer O’Connor’s side have had a remarkable season so far, losing just one of their opening seven league games, winning the other six, often by a landslide. In all competitions, the young Robins have scored an incredible 33 goals in their last six
games, conceding just three times.

They’re looking to take advantage of their games in hand over top two sides Nantwich Town U18 Girls and Wythenshawe FC U18 Girls, the latter have won all 10 league games so far.

Meanwhile, Kelsall occupy 7th position with nine points from 10 games. It’s been a tricky run of games for Kelsall, having played Wythenshawe and Nantwich after the Altrincham defeat. They lost both, 5-2 and 3-2, respectively.
