Altrincham started strongly, in this National League fixture with Steven Gerrard’s Academy, and worked a number of chances that they were unable to finish off.
At the other end, Louie Fallon (pictured) was called into action with a brilliant double save, keeping the score at 0-0.
The home side took the lead after creating an opportunity that led to a corner.
The corner was cleared by the young Robins, but the ball fell to a Gerrard Academy player, whose cross into the box was finished off by their player, slotting it into the bottom right corner of the net.
Altrincham carried on playing their football, finding their wingers and flooding into the box, but none of the opportunities created ended in a goal.
On the hour-mark, a shot from 30 yards out took a deflection to beat Fallon and double the home team's advantage.
Try as they might, the young Robins couldn’t find a way through the opposition ranks, despite the Gerrard Academy being reduced to 10 men due to an injury happening after they had already made all their substitutions.
