What a start it was to the 2022 UEFA Women's Euros!

The Lionesses kicked off the summer's biggest tournament at Old Trafford on the 6th July, 2022.

The opening Ceremony was something to behold, a selection of live performances and dancers, fireworks, fire and smoke machines a truly memorable occasion.

Part of the history made that night was down to our Altrincham Women's football club Coaches and Players. Matthew Sollitt, Megan and Maizy Price, Jade Buckley-Ratcliff, and Caitlin O'Callaghan were all involved in the spectacular show of events.

The girls who play for the U23 Women's at Altrincham WFC  were involved in the opening ceremony in Trafford. The 4 ladies formed part of a team that displayed the official Euros  flag in front of a packed out crowd at Old Trafford. The game broke the attendance record and is the highest attended women's Euro game in history with a crowd of 68,871 spectators inside the ground.

Matthew, the current manager of the U23s women's side, was working very hard in fan services to make sure everything ran smoothly before the game.

An amazing and historic night for everyone, well done to everyone from Altrincham Women's FC who was involved at the game. The club is very proud of you!
