One of Altrincham's brightest young prospects Owen German has joined North West Counties League side Wythenshawe Town on a season-long loan.

The teenage midfielder made such an impact in Alty's Academy last season that he was awarded a place in the senior squad and singled out by manager Phil Parkinson as one to watch, praise that has looked fully justified during the Robins' programme of warm-up matches ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

The natural next step to ensure he continues to develop was to arrange a loan spell for him at a suitably competitive level, and the club are pleased to announce that Owen will spend the forthcoming season boosting Wythenshawe's chances of going one better than last season, when they narrowly missed out on promotion from the North West Counties League Premier Division.

An energetic and composed deep-lying central midfielder, the former Crewe Alexandra Academy youngster made his first-team debut for Alty in their Cheshire Senior Cup win at Sandbach in October last year and was an unused substitute in the final at The J.Davidson Stadium.

He captained Alty's Academy team several times last season and underlined why Alty boss Phil rates him so highly with a string of impressive performances in the recent friendlies against Lancaster City, FC United of Manchester, Stockport County and Wythenshawe Town.

There was the promise of things to come in those senior appearances, and the hope is that he will take another step towards fulfilling his rich potential by benefitting from a season of competitive first-team football at the top end of the NWCL Premier Division.

All the best at Ericstan Stadium, Owen, and everyone at Alty hopes the experience will stand you in good stead for your return to The J.Davidson Stadium.
