Club Statement | Planned Matchday Disruption
It has been brought to our attention - via an anonymous letter sent to the Football Club - that an afternoon of disruption has been planned to coincide with this weekend's home game against Southend United (Saturday, March 21st - kick-off 3pm).
The protestors plan to use vehicles to block access at the following locations...
- Junction of Cleveland Road & Moss Lane
- Junctions of Sandileigh Avenue/Drive & Moss Lane
- Junctions of Queen's Road/Moss Lane & Queen's Road/Stamford Park Road
- Junctions of School Road/Moss Lane & School Road/Stamford Park Road
- Junction of Stamford Park Road/Moss Lane
- Access to the shops opposite The J.Davidson Stadium
The club understands this has come about due to frustration from local residents around parking. We want to work with all stakeholders to find solutions and recognise the frustrations that parking issues, created by a minority of people attending games at The J.Davidson Stadium, can cause residents.
On Wednesday, March 4th, our CEO Sam Mackenzie met with local councillors and members of Trafford Borough Council at The J.Davidson Stadium to discuss issues around parking in the local area.
Following receipt of the planned disruption, a Safety Advisory Group meeting took place earlier this afternoon (Monday, March 16th) between ourselves, police and council representatives to discuss the disruption.
As a result of the SAG, GMP have confirmed there will be a police presence in and around the stadium and local officers will respond if needed.
We would like to encourage fans attending Saturday's game to allow additional time for their journey to the stadium. We encourage supporters to walk or use public transport where possible, to park respectfully if driving and behave courteously towards our neighbours.
We're looking forward to welcome all supporters to the game on Saturday.
The police advise that for any non-emergency incidents call 101 and for emergencies dial 999.
