Altrincham FC x Darby Rimmer MND Foundation
We welcome our friends from the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation to The J.Davidson Stadium this afternoon promoting their latest fundraising event - the Grassroots Football Tour walking challenge.
The challenge will take place across the weekend of June 6-8 with Alty fans and former players encouraged to join the Saturday afternoon walking leg between Trafford FC and Altrincham FC - a distance of just under eight miles.
The cause and fundraising efforts are close to our hearts at Alty having lost former players Mark Maddox and George Melling to MND.
We are delighted to announce former Alty player Gary Scott will be a core member of the team along with three members of the Maddox family; Sonny and Vinny Maddox and Connor Smith.
Ossett United manager and ex-Alty player James Walshaw is also a core member of the team and also walking the Alty leg will be former England women's captain Steph Houghton and former Premier League striker Marcus Stewart, who was diagnosed with MND in 2022.
I am delighted to be part of the core team and will be supporting the walkers over the three days and two nights," said Neil Faulkner. "Let’s all get behind this event in memory of Mark and George. Many thanks for your support."
Click the link here to sign up and join us - the price is £10 and includes an event t-shirt. This is also a unique opportunity for local companies to support this fantastic cause.
