Brilliant by Alty youngsters as Lynch-pin Adam strikes at the double!
Lymm Rovers 0 Altrincham Reserves 2
Alty Reserves returned to action after a three-week break and did the club's cup tradition proud as they progressed to the next round of the Altrincham FA Senior Cup at the expense of Lymm Rovers.
It was a particularly young Robins line-up that made the short journey to Lymm , but there was no shortage of confidence as they took the game to more experienced opponents from the start.
Alty controlled possession in a highly-encouraging manner but struggled to carve out clear-cut chances in the opening stages against a well organised and resolute Lymm side, with wingers Harrison Howells and Jack Chandler having to work very hard to get on the ball.
Persistence paid off, though, later in the first half when young centre-back Sam Taylor drove forward and found Howells, who deftly beat his man before flashing a dangerous ball across the goalmouth for Adam Lynch to make the score 1-0.
The second half saw more of the same from the young Alty side, who showed calm possession and great link-up in wide areas, constantly causing problems for the home team.
The second goal of the game came when winger George Raftery found overlapping full-back Ajay Oshani, whose pace gave him time to deliver an excellent cross into the opposition box.
In-form Alty striker Lynch was on hand to apply the finishing touch once more, making the final score 2-0 and rounding off an outstanding 90 minutes for Danny Jarrett's side.
There were no fewer than six youngsters aged 16 or 17 in the Alty line-up, and each one of them should be proud of putting in such a mature performance.
