Well done, Alan, worthy winner of our monthly volunteer award

Former first-team physio Alan Ainsley remains a popular as well as familiar figure at Altrincham, and the club are delighted to announce that he is the latest winner of our Blanchflower-backed volunteer of the month prize.

Most Alty fans will remember Alan's invaluable input as physio from 2012 to 2017 but might not realise he had another role at the club, putting his expertise at the disposal of the wider community.

The experienced and widely-respected sports therapist marked the opening of the Community Sports Hall at The J.Davidson Stadium by launching a senior citizens fitness club, and it is still going to this day, a show of devotion Alty are happy to acknowledge by naming him volunteer of the month.

Running three times a week, each for an hour, the sessions offer chair-based exercises, working on strength, balance and aerobic fitness to improve fundamental movement.

They are aimed at over-60s who feel they might benefit from Alan's instruction, and the club have also accommodated referrals from Wythenshawe Hospital cardiac rehab unit to support people who have recently had treatment there.

What a shining example of Altrincham FC serving the community, and, needless to say, the sessions are proving very popular, with up to 20 people attending each one.

The classes take place on a Tuesday from 9.30am to 10.30am and 11am to 12 noon and Thursday 10am to 11am. To book a place or for more information, please call 0161 9281045 or email community@altrinchamfootballclub.co.uk.

Well done, Alan, a deserving recipient of our £30 monthly voucher, kindly donated by Blanchflower and to be spent at their ever-popular town centre bakery and kitchen, renowned for its exceptional cuisine.
