Another three points on the board for Alty

Altrincham 2 Truro City 0

Another victory for The Robins, as Neil Gibson’s men made it four wins in five Enterprise National League games, with a hard-fought performance against bottom of the table Truro City.

It was a nervy opening 20 minutes for Alty, as Truro forced goalie Luke Hutchinson into three saves within the first 10 minutes. Plymouth loanees, Caleb Roberts and Freddie Issaka, were at the heart of visitors’ dominant spell, with the latter forcing Hutchinson into a great save as well as striking the post.

The Robin’s first chance came through Anthony Forde’s long ball over the top which fell to Declan Howe whose shot was blocked.

Tyler Harvey was a nuisance to the Alty defence, and his goal-bound header forced Hutchinson into another great save to keep the score 0-0.

Strongly against the run of play, The Robins then broke the deadlock through Declan Howe, who struck the ball well on the turn to find the net from 10 yards after a dangerous ball in from Forde.

That goal gave Alty the confidence to apply more pressure, as Kahrel Reddin showed his usual flair, skipping past and riding challenges on the right from two Truro defenders, but his final effort was well tipped over by Aidan Stone.

Continuing the pressure, the ball fell again to Reddin who’s blocked shot came out to Liam Humbles, and the midfielder curled his effort from 25 yards into the top right corner for his first Alty goal.

For the final five minutes of the half, Truro created two more chances, with Harvey and Issaka linking up and forcing Hutchinson into another brilliant save.

The second half began with a spell of Truro possession, which Alty used to their advantage, being able to find Reddin down the right twice in 10 minutes, despite getting in behind the Truro defence, both of his cutbacks were well blocked.

Later in the half Lucas Weaver was brought in, replacing goal scorer Howe, and the forward found himself in the thick of things straight away, being able to get past George Cooper, but his strike sailed over the bar

In the 75th minute, Truro’s Dominic Johnson-Fisher cut inside onto his left foot, with his effort giving Man Of The Match Hutchinson his first action of the half.

After that the action faded away, allowing Alty to secure a double over Truro after their victory earlier in the season.
