ALTY travel to the Project Solar Stadium on Tuesday (7.45pm) as we face Hyde United in the Cheshire Senior Cup quarter-finals.
The Tigers sit fourth in The Pitching In Northern Premier League, in large part thanks to former Alty striker Jack Redshaw, whose 13 goals this season places him as Hyde’s top scorer.
Our path to the final eight has been marked by victories over 1874 Northwich and Stalybridge Celtic, while our hosts secured their quarter-final spot with wins against Cheadle Heath Nomads and Alsager Town.
First team coach Ross Speight will once again take on managerial duties for Tuesday’s game, assisted by Danny Jarrett & Ruaridh Iacovou.
Hear from the Gaffer
Improvements in defensive transitions: “It has been our biggest improvement this season. Our defenders have really stepped up to the plate, but also our forwards - I have been hammering home to them for weeks that if we can get the correct responsibilities, intensity and mindsets then we are more than a match for anyone in this division.”
A rotated squad for Tuesday: “As much as the lads (who didn’t play today) won’t look at Tuesday’s match as an opportunity because of the stigma around the Cheshire Senior Cup, ultimately every single game is one that we want to win. If those lads want to contribute, which I know they do, then it is important they get those minutes in their legs as we progress into the final part of the season.”
Last time in the Cheshire Senior Cup
Alty 4-0 Stalybridge (George Wilson 20’, Matty Kosylo 34’, Dior Angus 82’, Regan Linney 90’)
Back to November – A much-changed Robins’ XI secured a place in the Cheshire Senior Cup quarter-finals with a four-goal victory over Stalybridge Celtic at The J. Davidson Stadium.
Matty Kosylo’s thumping first-time volley in the 34th minute was the pick of the Altrincham goals in a flawless team performance.
