Match reports from Alty under-18s and under-17s
Sam Chambers reports on a 2-1 win for Altrincham under-18s against Colne.
The game was a bit scrappy early on with Colne being a very physical side, against an Alty team made up of under-17s as well as under-18s, and often opting for the long ball aiming for the number nine.
Then, after three consecutive corners from Colne that Alty failed to deal with, Colne eventually capitalised on one of them to take the lead.
Soon after this, Adam Lynch broke the line and found himself in behind, only for his cross to be intercepted by a trailing arm from Colne's centre-back for a penalty to be awarded.
Unfortunately for Alty, Loui Williams failed to convert from 12 yards out with a spot-kick that rattled the underside of the bar but bounced down on the wrong side of the line, from a Robins perspective.
For the remaining 35 minutes of the half, the young Robins retained a lot of possession and played the ball round well but failed to create in the final third.
In the second half, Alty we’re a lot more direct and played the ball fast between lines, often finding Williams, whose pace created a lot of chances.
It led to a succession of corners, and from on of them, youngster Joel Bailey was able to tap the ball through the goalkeeper's legs from close range.
From this, the young Robins grew in confidence, with the substitution of Behan adding extra energy to the game and resulting in more pressure being applied to the Colne defence.
The second goal came from Chambers picking up the ball from a deep position and playing it in behind for Behan, who kept possession and beat his man before playing it back to Chambers for a cool finish into the bottom right corner.

Tom Higgins reports on a 5-1 defeat for Altrincham under-17s against Curzon Ashton under-18s.
Not the best day for the under-17s,who faced Curzon Ashton in their second league game of the season.
There was a very direct start to the game for Altrincham, with the Robins creating chances but not being able to find the back of the net.
Deep into the first half, Altrincham lost possession of the ball, which led to Curzon Ashton capitalising on that chance and finding the back of the net, making it 1-0.
Not long after, another Altrincham mistake lead to Curzon Ashton scoring from a ball played in behind, leaving their striker one-on-one with Noah Tyson in net, with the subsequent finish making it 2-0.
Just before the end of the first half, a Curzon Ashton midfielder intercepted an Altrincham pass, allowing him to play a ball in behind, resulting in a third goal for our opponents.
After the half time team-talk, Altrincham started off a lot brighter and looked more dangerous going forward.
However, it wasn’t long before Curzon Ashton's right-winger was able to go down the right side and into our box to make it 4-0.
Shortly after, Altrincham looked better on the ball going forward, leading to a penalty being giving for the Robins, which was slotted away in the bottom right corner by Alfa making it 4-1.
Altrincham created more chances and kept possession but could not capitalise, which led to a counter-attack that ended in a fifth Curzon goal.
Overall, not the best day for Altrincham under-17s.
