Sandbach United 0-4 Altrincham

Altrincham cruised into the last sixteen of the Cheshire Senior Cup with a comfortable victory over Sandbach United at the well-appointed Sandbach Football Community Centre on Tuesday night.
The Robins dominated from the early stages & took the lead after 16 minutes when Ben Pringle fed Zak Goodson, making his first start since signing from Ilkeston, who curled a fine left foot shot into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Liam Brockbank had two great opportunities to add to the lead, but Sandbach did well to restrict the deficit to a single goal at the break.
Pringle, whose performance oozed class throughout, provided a second assist early in the second half, capitalising on an individual error to set Bennett free to double the lead.
The Ramblers, who play five steps below the Robins in the football pyramid, were reduced to ten men in the 64th minute when Niall Cope, who had defended resolutely for over an hour, handled Bennett’s goal bound shot & from the resulting penalty the Preston North End loanee sent Eric Merner the wrong way to make it 3-0.
Skipper, Jordan Hulme backheeled a fourth, when the ball broke to him following a pacy foray from Aidy Roxburgh, who made an eye-catching debut for Alty.
Jack Kingdon, a centre half on a work experience loan from Manchester United started for Alty, whilst Academy graduate Harlan Rodgers-Morris & Owen German from the U18s controlled the midfield, where Sandbach’s Stanley Tatters also caught the eye.
Harry Cain, who scored for Alty in an FA Trophy tie at Macclesfield in 2017, did well for The North West Counties Division One South side, who were the perfect welcoming hosts at their excellent facility.
