Altrincham defender Liam Brockbank has suffered an injury setback and faces a lengthy lay-off after damaging knee ligaments.

The highly-rated young left-back, signed from Lancaster City last summer and recently loaned out to Gloucester City in the Vanarama National League North, picked up the injury in training.

An MRI scan confirmed damage to ligaments, and Liam is now awaiting an appointment with a specialist to determine the best course of treatment and how long his recovery might take.

The club are rallying round and ensuring the 21-year old has all the care and support he needs, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

As Alty fans will know, Matty Kosylo had the misfortune to injure an ACL shortly before the start of the Robins’ latest National League campaign.

Crowd favourite Matty has been making excellent progress since undergoing surgery six months ago and has his sights set firmly on being restored to peak condition in time for the launch of next season.

In between stints as match summariser for Alty TV, a role he filled with distinction against Maidenhead United last week, Matty is building up his fitness levels with strength work in the gym and running schedules that include changing direction.

Another player in the midst of a lengthy rehabilitation programme is right-back Ross Barrows, who suffered a broken ankle five weeks ago.

Again, the news is positive, with the bone healing well and Ross able to join Matty on the gantry against Maidenhead to act as summariser for Radio Robins and show that, like his Robins team-mate, he’s not short of an insightful word or two when it comes to analysing the action.

The former King’s Lynn Town defender has an appointment with a specialist imminently and is likely to have a scan in next few days to monitor his progress and ensure the bone has healed properly.

Centre-back Jake Cooper will be back by the end of the month, as he recovers from a tendon adductor injury, while attacking midfielder Amaar Hussain is booked in for surgery on his ACL injury, due to the fantastic generosity of Alty fans and others who rallied round and donated to a crowdfunder appeal for the operation he needs.

Young defender Jayden Matthew is close to full fitness after a hamstring problem, while full-back Aidan Roxburgh should return to action in the next few weeks after being substituted with a hamstring injury for Nantwich Town, where he’s on loan, at Belper Town a week last Saturday.
