Here's day four of our build-up to Stuart Coburn's testimonial at The J.Davidson Stadium on Sunday July 28th.
It's an Alty 2005 Xl versus an Alty 2014 Xl, kicking off at 3.30pm, and you can make sure of your place at a not-to-be-missed celebration of Stuart's club record 689 appearances between the posts for the Robins by clicking here to buy tickets.
We are bringing you details of the players taking part on a daily basis as we head towards what will be a special, nostalgia-packed afternoon, kindly sponsored by Jones Contracts, with tickets priced at just £5 for adults and £2 for under-18s. Here is today's quartet from the 2005 squad:
RICHARD ACTON - was on Manchester City's books as a junior, and after being released in 1998, he had spells with Hyde United and Runcorn before joining Alty in September 2000.
An agile, highly-capable keeper, he made his league debut against Marine that same month and remained first choice between the posts until suffering a serious shoulder injury at Harrogate the following August.
By the time he recovered, he found himself facing the onerous task of competing with a certain Stuart Coburn for the number one jersey after our testimonial recipient returned to Moss Lane from a brief spell with Leigh RMI.
Richard was still a highly-valued member of the squad, always ready and able to step in when need be and always an excellent shot-stopper.
He had one or two spells away from Moss Lane during his lengthy association with the club, and during one of them with TNS, he had the distinction of being on the bench at Anfield for a European tie against Liverpool.
CHRIS DENHAM - a pacy, skilful and always direct winger who patrolled the right flank with purpose and could always be relied on to be a handful for opposing defences with his relish for.taking on his full-back.
Started his career at Prestwich Heys and underlined his keen eye for goal during a prolific season with another North Manchester club, Stand Athletic.
He had two spells at Stalybridge Celtic and two at Droylsden, with appearances for Radcliffe Borough and Ashton United in between, before joining Alty in June 2008 and quickly demonstrating a flair for going past defenders and creating chances for team-mates.
Injury setbacks limited his time on the pitch for a season or so, but he came into his own in 2009-10, when he was top scorer until being hampered by another injury a few months in.
Joined Chorley in the summer of 2011 after making 57 appearances in the starting line-up and 25 from the bench and scoring 19 goals, an impressive return for a winger.
GREG YOUNG - a tall, authoritative 6ft 3in centre-half, Doncaster native Greg had spells with Grimsby Town, Northwich Vics on loan and Alfreton Town before joining Alty from Halifax Town in January 2008.
A left-footed defender, he made his debut as a substitute, slotting in at left-back away to Oxford United, a day later and made his full debut in his normal centre-back position three days after that at home to Kidderminster Harriers.
It was the season Halifax folded and were reinvented as FC Halifax Town, but Greg went from strength to strength at Alty as a commanding, assured presence at the heart of defence.
A new two-year contract duly followed in the summer of 2008, and when Robbie Lawton picked up an injury, it was Greg who Alty turned to as the prime candidate to take over as stand-in skipper.
Left to join York City in May 2010, and though he returned to Moss Lane on loan in February 2011 and made a further 11 starts, he was recalled to Bootham Crescent in April, making it a total of 128+8 appearances for the Robins in which he scored 12 goals.
CHRIS SENIOR - another Tyke, Huddersfield-born Chris was a diminutive, lively striker who joined Alty on loan from Halifax Town in January 2007 and made the move permanent at the end of that season.
Launched his career as a midfielder with his home town club Huddersfield but was released as part of a cost-cutting exercise by the Terriers in 2003 and joined Scarborough, where more than half of his 67 appearances were from the bench over the course of two years.
Even so, he scored 18 goals and was rewarded with a call-up to the England non-League squad. Chris made his Alty debut away to Woking in January 2007 and scored at an impressive rate for the remainder of that campaign.
In the early stages of the following season, he again found himself alternating between the starting line-up and the bench, but he was always an effective operator up front, with a keen eye for a half-chance.
He was the Blue Square player of the month for February 2010, and he had 42 goals to his name from 114+31 appearances when he left to join Darlington in May 2010.
