Cooper joins Quakers on loan

Jake Cooper has joined Darlington on a month's loan in a move aimed at providing him with more game time and helping to revive the Quakers' promotion push in the Vanarama National League North.

Former Rotherham United centre-back Jake has started 11 of Altrincham's 32 National League games this season after turning a loan spell with the Robins into a permanent transfer last summer.

Highly regarded in the Alty camp, it was felt the 22-year old defender, now fully recovered from injury and eager for time in the middle, would benefit from a stint in the fiercely-competitive environment of a National League North promotion battle.

Jake had a loan spell at Darlington in August 2021, making 11 appearances and scoring three goals in a contribution that made a lasting impression on Quakers boss Alun Armstrong.

With his side now fourth in the table, seven points behind top two King's Lynn Town and AFC Fylde, after winning only one of their last five games, Armstrong is delighted to have Jake's aerial expertise and defensive strength back in the ranks ahead of tomorrow's home game with Kidderminster Harriers.

All the best, Jake, and we look forward to welcoming you back to The J.Davidson Stadium after what we trust will prove a successful spell at Blackwell Meadows.
