Chairman's update with Mark Luby

As we approach the final stretch of what has undoubtedly been a challenging season, I wanted to take the opportunity to update you on a number of important developments across the club.

Firstly, a note on boardroom changes. Sam Mackenzie will be stepping down from her role as CEO, and I would like to place on record my sincere thanks for her commitment and contribution in that capacity. I am very pleased, however, that Sam will remain on the Board of Directors, where her experience and insight will continue to be of great value.

When I first joined the club, the board structure was, in my view, larger than necessary. We have since evolved into a more streamlined and effective group. We have four core directors - myself, Sam, Gary and John - supported by a further four regular attendees at board meetings, including a finance professional and an investor representative. This ensures we have the expertise and governance required, while remaining agile and focused.

Looking ahead, preparations for next season are already underway. We are currently in discussions with a number of clubs regarding pre-season fixtures. While nothing has yet been finalised, I can say that we are working towards arranging a set of exciting and competitive friendlies that will provide strong preparation for the campaign ahead.

This season has also been heavily impacted by an unprecedented run of injuries. It is an area we take extremely seriously. During the close season, we will be undertaking a comprehensive review of all aspects of player preparation and welfare, including training methods, medical provision, strength and conditioning, and our overall pre-season programme. Our objective is clear: to ensure we give our players the best possible platform to perform consistently and remain fit throughout the season.

On the pitch, it has been a difficult year, and we are under no illusions about that. While we are not yet mathematically safe, we are very close, and everyone at the club remains fully focused on securing our National League position for 2026/27 as soon as possible.

Away from the pitch, there have been some real positives. Anne Morris and her “Match of the Dames” initiative has been a tremendous success, generating valuable exposure for the club and engaging new audiences. It is something we are very proud of and will look to build on going forward. The growth in our relationship with fan group Union Golf Road is another aspect of club engagement that we are hugely positive about.

We are also adapting to changes within the wider football landscape, particularly with the introduction of the new Independent Football Regulator (IFR). As with all clubs, we are working to fully understand the new framework and ensure we operate in line with its requirements. This is an evolving process, but one we are approaching constructively and proactively.

Finally, I want to address our supporters directly. I fully appreciate how difficult it can be to maintain enthusiasm and motivation after a season like this. We understand your frustrations, and they are shared by everyone at the club. What I would ask, however, is that we stay together through these final games. Your support makes a genuine difference, and as we look to secure our status and rebuild for next season, that unity will be more important than ever.

Thank you, as always, for your continued backing.
