A man for all seasons, that's our Mark!

Words: John Edwards

There’s seemingly no end to Mark Bennett’s many artistic talents.

Mark is widely known as the inspiration behind Alty TV, the man whose camera craft and commitment to the cause keeps Altrincham supporters supplied with incomparable footage of the Robins’ matchday exploits in the Vanarama National League.

Alty are lucky to have him - but so, too, are Players Dramatic Society!

For when lifelong Alty fan Mark isn’t filming his beloved Robins from the gantry at The J.Davidson Stadium, he’s casting an eye over a different stage as an integral part of a long-established thespian group at nearby Cheadle Hulme.

Players Dramatic Society have been treading the boards since 1925 and are still going strong nearly a century later, producing and performing high-calibre drama at their 104-seat Players Theatre situated on Anfield Road (there had to be a football connection!), opposite The Kenilworth pub, in Cheadle Hulme.

We’re nearing curtain up on their latest offering, and, as director, Mark has been putting the hours in to ensure standards are as high as ever on opening night and beyond.

A comedy about a successful female psychologist who runs a support group for an ensemble of neurotic patients, Men Are Dogs is running from next Monday, November 28th to Saturday, December 3rd, each performance starting at 7.45pm, at the Players Theatre.

If you are interested in seeing the results of Mark’s endeavours, directing this award-winning society’s latest venture, you can click on the link, below, to access the theatre website for details of ticket availability.
