The song is one of the best in football. To the tune of Lionel Richie’s "Three Times A Lady", fans of non-league Altrincham sing, "Once, twice, three times to Wembley." Altrincham Football Club were known as the Manchester United of non-League football in the Seventies and Eighties. They did indeed go to Wembley three times. They also drew with Everton away in the FA Cup fifth round – and took them to a replay at Old Trafford, where 35,530 showed.
