Liverpool Feds Reserves next up for Alty Women
Altrincham FC Women will look to build on victory last time out as they’re on the road once more with a trip to Liverpool Feds Reserves Women in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South.
The Robins were scheduled to face Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves in the first round of the Alliance Design & Print Plate, having beaten Chorley Women FC Development 3-2 in the preliminary round. However, Altrincham have been awarded a walkover and progress automatically to the quarter-finals.
After the Chorley victory, Daryll Abrahams’ side returned to league action after an eight-week break, coming out 7-3 winners. Francesca Boyle scored on her first team competitive debut against Chorley and netted twice on her first league appearance against Wirral.
Her strike partner Kira Saycell was also back on the scoresheet with flying colours, striking a hattrick with Carmen Culbert and Georgia McKnight also finding the back of the net.
Alty stayed eighth despite the three points, though still have at least two games in hand on every other team due to their Adobe Women’s FA Cup run and have played five games less than AFC Crewe Women and Macclesfield FC Women.
On paper, the Robins’ task should be straightforward with Liverpool Feds Reserves sitting bottom-of-the-table and already relegated with -1 points. They will, though, play with nothing to lose and a determination to finish the season with a positive points tally.
It was a promising start to the campaign for the Merseyside outfit, who went unbeaten in the opening three matches and picked up their only win of the season in a 2-0 victory away from home against Macclesfield FC Women.
Since then, it has been dismal for Liverpool Feds Reserves, who are on a 14-game losing streak in all competitions.
Elite U18
**UPDATE | Unfortunately this game has bee postponed**
For a third week in a row, both the first team and Elite U18 side are away from home, with the latter returning to Cheshire Women & Youth Football League U18 Premier Division against Northwich Victoria U18.
Spencer O’Connor’s side were in Cheshire FA Girls U18 Youth Cup action last weekend against Stockport County Ladies U18. Despite Mae Winchcombe opening the scoring after just 32 seconds, the Hatters, who are second in the same division as Altrincham, came back to secure a 3-1 victory.
The young Robins will be looking to bounce back from the cup defeat and build on the 2-0 win over fourth placed Nantwich Town U18 Girls in their most recent league fixture.
Sunday’s opponents Northwich sit seventh in the nine-team league. Like Liverpool Feds Reserves, they had a decent start to the season, though are now on an eight-game run of defeats, including a 3-1 loss against Altrincham’s Junior U18 Robins side in the quarter-final of the Cheshire FA Girls U18 Youth Cup.
