Two North West Women’s Regional League Division One South games remain for Altrincham FC Women, who travel to the Deva Stadium to face second placed Chester FC Women.

The Robins were without a game last Sunday due to being knocked out of the Cheshire FA Women’s Cup. Their most recent fixture was also a cup exit, bowing out of the Alliance Design and Print Plate at the quarter final stage to an FC St Helens Women side top of the Division One Centre, suffering a 5-0 defeat at Partington Sport Village.

In the early stages of the season, all the attention was on Altrincham incredible Adobe Women’s FA Cup campaign which saw Daryll Abrahams’ side reach the third round. However, since the turn of the new year, it’s been the league where the Robins have found the most joy.

Despite bowing out of two cups at the quarter final stage, Altrincham have lost just one North West Women’s Regional League game since the turn of the new year.

Chester, meanwhile, were last in action in the Alliance Design and Print Cup, and picked up an impressive victory over step five side Crewe Alexandra Women. The Seals were 1-0 behind, but Sarah Redman scored right at the death to take the game to extra time. Substitute Cindy Tweedle netted the winner in extra time to secure the 2-1 victory and progression to the semi final, where they’ll host Accrington Stanley Women.

Altrincham earned their first point of the season against the Seals back in August, earning a 2-2 draw despite trailing by two after 50 minutes. It was substitutes Ashley Jones and a last minute equaliser from captain Nat Lowe on the scoresheet at Partington.

Elite U18

Spencer O’Connor’s side are also at the tail end of the season, though have a few more games to go than the first team with four league encounters and one cup tie remaining.

Attention is back on the Cheshire Women & Youth Football League U18 Premier Division, as the Robins were knocked out of the Manchester FA Girls Cup U18 at the semi final stage.

Alty were drawn against Wythenshawe FC U18 Girls, who have won all 16 league games, including two against Altrincham. Despite Tia Unwin’s fifth goal in three games, Alty fell to a 7-1 defeat.

Next up, the Elite U18s are back at Partington Sports Village to face Northwich Victoria U18, the only side Alty are yet to face at least once in the league. O’Connor will be looking for his side to make it three league wins on the bounce, having picked up victories against Sandbach United U18 Hawk and West Kirby U18 Women before the Wythenshawe loss.

Northwich Victoria have picked up just nine points, with three wins in 13 games, though one of those games in their most recent game at the start of the month. The Vics overturned a 3-2 half time deficit against Sandbach United U18 Hawk to win 4-3.

Their last league win before then came back in October, with the other three points coming on the opening day of the season.
