Alty end their season against Runcorn Linnets
A largely successful 2025/26 season comes to a conclusion for Altrincham FC Women when they play host to Runcorn Linnets FC at Partington Sports Village.
Following a 3-1 defeat to Chester FC Women, the Robins have a confirmed fifth-placed finish in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South, a promising campaign having earned promotion from the Cheshire Women & Youth Football League last season.
Though a bit of a free hit, Alty will be looking to avoid ending 2025/26 with three consecutive loses, having also bowed out of the Alliance Design and Print Plate with a 5-0 loss against FC St Helens Women.
Moreover, Daryll Abrahams’ side will be out for revenge, having lost twice against Runcorn this season, 3-1 in the reverse league fixture and 4-1 in the Cheshire FA Women’s Cup.
The Yellows have an outside chance of a third-place finish, though require three points against Alty. However, they will be relying on Manchester Laces losing their final two matches, therefore finishing fourth appears the most likely outcome.
It was Laces whom Runcorn faced last time, suffering 5-1 away defeat, the second heavy defeat in a row having previously lost 13-1 in the Cheshire FA Women’s Cup. That being said, Runcorn became just the second team to pick up three points against league leaders Nantwich Town, the first being Alty back in November.
Elite U18
The young Robins are in quarter final action in the Cheshire Women & Youth Football League U18 cup, travelling to Nantwich Town U18 Girls.
Both sides enter the competition at the quarter final stage but have faced each other
twice in the league. Alty were victorious on both occasions, firstly winning 6-1 in October.
The reverse fixture was more closely contested, nevertheless the Robins won 2-0. Spencer O’Connor’s side sit second only to champions Wythenshawe, who have completed their season and won every game. The Ammies also beat Alty 7-1 in the Manchester FA Girls Cup U18, though Altrincham bounced back with an emphatic 9-0 victory over Northwich Victoria U18.
Nantwich themselves have had a promising season and with 27 points are just three behind Alty in fourth place, though like Wythenshawe, the Dabbers have finished their league season whilst the Robins still have three left to play.
