The Robins take on Yeovil Town

Alty return to league action on Saturday as we look ahead to the final six games of the 2024/25 Vanarama National League campaign, starting with Yeovil Town at The J.Davidson Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

Setting The Scene

Altrincham were knocked out of the National League Cup at the semi-final stage in our previous match, losing 2-1 to Leeds United u21s.

A fiercely competitive first half kick-started the affair, and Diogo Monteiro of Leeds put the visitors ahead just before the break. Josh McDonald doubled their lead with a tidy finish in the 53rd minute, putting the PL2 too far ahead for Alty to catch. Justin Amaluzor dragged a goal back, but the Robins were ultimately unable to complete the comeback.

Ahead of our return to league football, Altrincham sit in 9th, three points behind the play-off spots. Our visitors on Saturday are five points further back, earning 52 points from their 40 games this season.

Yeovil have had a challenging season after earning promotion last season. Yet, with consecutive wins in their previous two games, it seems as though they’ve secured their place in the division for next season.

The thoughts of Phil Parkinson

“Every game is a cup final for us and it will be for every team around us, because the teams below us will think they’ve got half a chance of getting in as well just like we have. The teams above us will have pressure on just like what we felt when we were in there, and unfortunately dropped out.

"It’s all to play for, six cup finals, and it won’t be done until the last day, I promise you that. Get down and support us, home and away, and who knows, we might make the playoffs and you’ve been a part of that.”

Earlier this season

September 2024 – The first meeting between the two sides this season in the Vanarama National League ended goalless, as the points were shared at Huish Park.
