Sandbach United v Altrincham match preview

Words by Joe Ward

Alty will travel to Sandbach United tonight as we kick off our Cheshire Senior Cup campaign (7:45pm kick-off).

The Robins made it back-to-back wins on Saturday beating Dorking Wonderers 4-1 at home to extend an excellent run of form in the league.

However, tonight our attention turns to cup action as we face level 10 side Sandbach United.

The Ramblers head into tonight’s game off the back of four consecutive defeats in The North West Counties League Division One South, loosing 4-3 in their last game at home to Cheadle Town.

Managers Views

In a post-match interview with AltyTV, manager Phil Parkinson gave his views following our 4-1 victory over Dorking Wanderers.

From The Dressing Room

Ollie Byrne, who has been named in the Vanarama National League Team of the Week, caught up with Jonny Crowther after his man of the match performance against Dorking Wanderers.

About The Opposition

Sandbach United undoubtably go into tonight’s game as underdogs, however, it will be a test that Phil Parkinson’s men should not take lightly.

With a young squad and relatively new manager in Declan Swan, the home side have impressed so far this season in front of goal, scoring 24 goals in their opening 12 games.

Even in The Ramblers’ last three defeats, they have still managed to score 7 goals with Swan admitting in a recent interview: “We are very good going forward, but at times we are our own worst enemy”.

Due to recent injuries, departures, and suspensions, Sandbach have limited defensive options ahead of tonight’s fixture. However, manager Declan Swan remains positive praising his sides young talent.
