Robins Review - Editor Explains

Programme Editor Ed Martin explains the changes made to the beloved Robins Review over the summer and what fans can look forward to for the 2022/23 season.

As the new campaign edges ever closer, we just wanted to let Alty supporters know all about what they can expect from their matchday programme this season!

Firstly, I think it is important to mention how determined we are to continue producing the Robins Review as we know it is an important part of the match day experience despite an ever-growing number of clubs moving to a fully digital format.

Last season, the programme made a reasonable profit, something it hasn’t done for several years and along with thanking a lot of contributors who make it happen, I want to thank our fantastic fans for buying it each game and for their patience and feedback as we continue to look to improve.

As costs continue to rise, we face several key challenges. How do we keep the programme as affordable as possible? And how do we keep the content as engaging as possible?

To combat the issue with printing costs, we submit the programme about 10 days prior to the game. Therein lies a problem with content quickly going out of date.

We could have played two, even three games between the content being produced and it being read.

Any league tables and player stats are inaccurate, league and club news no longer relevant and the complexion of club matters both on and off the field always has the potential to change drastically in just two weeks.

For these reasons we are taking an all new approach to how we look at the match day programme. No longer is it necessarily just a source of club news but a magazine sharing insights from club officials and unique stories with the fans. Furthermore, all content will now be entirely exclusive to the programme and will not be published anywhere else online.

With this being our historic first season as a full-time outfit, we're confident you'll find the content to be as engaging and interesting as ever!

As always, any feedback or ideas are always greatly appreciated so feel free to drop me an email at: ed@altrinchamfootballclub.co.uk
