Altrincham welcome Solihull Moors to The J. Davidson Stadium as we begin
our campaign in the 2024/25 Emirates FA Cup in Fourth Round Qualifying on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Setting the Scene

Altrincham were on the winning side of a close encounter in our previous fixture, as a rotated Alty side beat Blackburn u21s on penalties in the National League Cup.

The game finished 3-3 after 90 minutes, with Matty Kosylo, Tom Crawford and Lucas Weaver getting on the scoresheet for the Robins. Blackburn showed tremendous resilience to consistently find a way back into the game, but Altrincham’s composure and experience saw them get over the line.

Phil Parkinson will be hoping to carry the momentum of a win in the National League Cup into the Emirates FA Cup as the squad looks to end a winless run in the competition.

After beating Southport in Fourth Round Qualifying in 2021, two defeats to Gateshead and a loss against Oldham leaves us without a victory in the competition in our previous three ties.

Our visitors on Saturday have had an almost identical start to their Vanarama
National League campaign to Altrincham. With the same number of wins, draws and losses (and therefore points) Solihull sit one place below Alty in the table.

The Moors have a far superior recent record in the FA Cup, however, qualifying into the First Round Proper (as a minimum) in the previous eight seasons. With
impressive victories against Oldham and Rochdale, and a fantastic record in the FA Cup, Solihull Moors will provide a real challenge for Altrincham this weekend.

The Gaffer

“We're extremely positive going into Saturday. The draw doesn't really get any harder with how good Solihull's away record is so far this season.

"They'll fancy their chances of getting through. We fancy our chances of getting through. There's not a lot between the teams and we'll be bang at it, looking to reach the First Round."

Last time against Solihull Moors

February 2024 – The Robins picked up all three points the last time the two sides
met, in a crucial match between two sides pushing for a spot in the playoffs.

Altrincham’s only goal came from Alex Newby as we won 1-0 and completed the double over Solihull Moors.
