Altrincham seek a third consecutive victory in the Vanarama National
League on Saturday as we travel to Essex to face Braintree Town at The Rare Breed Meat Co. Stadium Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

Setting the Scene

Prior to a young Altrincham side bowing out of the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday, the Robins came through a tough test against Tamworth to record back-to-back victories for the first time in the 2024/25 Vanarama National League campaign.

A second-half strike from Alex Newby was followed by Justin Amaluzor bagging his first goal of the season to give Alty a well-deserved 2-0 lead heading into the final ten minutes. In the aftermath of the second goal, however, Tom Crawford received a red card, and Tamworth mounted a late comeback. Daniel Creaney scored a stoppage-time goal to halve the deficit, but Altrincham held on for the win.

The Robins now sit just three points outside of the National League play-offs in ninth, with 18 points from 12 games. After a narrow 1-0 defeat against Rochdale in their previous game, Braintree are in 20th, picking up 10 points so far this season.

Angelo Harrop’s men have endured a difficult start to the season, but eight of their 10 points this campaign have come at home, so picking up our third win in a row won’t be an easy feat.

The Gaffer

“I tell you what we've got a really good team. There's lots of positives already this season, including keeping four clean sheets compared to just the one at this stage last season.

"Good players make good decisions and win you games and we've got some good players at this football club."

Last time against Braintree
