Lawrence Looney to step down

More from Co-Chairman Lawrence Looney on his decision to step down from his role with the Robins.

“This is a bittersweet moment for me as I say goodbye to the club that I have absolutely loved being Co-Chair. I am confident in the knowledge that, the club is in a great position to finally achieve Football League status I always wanted to leave the club in a much better place than when I started and I feel this is the perfect time with the new investment and investors on board for me to move on.

"When I joined the club after the two relegations, you may remember at my first fans forum, my aim was to get the club to become an established National League team and aspire to make the Football League. I also had the dream to turn the club full time! The fact that we are all so disappointed in missing out on the play-offs this season, shows that we all really believe that we can achieve the Football League and I have no doubt it will happen in the next few years.

"I honestly joined the club because of the fans and I always knew we’d have to change a great deal to get us back to where we belonged. It has been a huge challenge but I hope that I have lived up to my promises and I can’t wait to become a supporter and watch the club develop even further over the next few years.

"There are too many people to thank but I would like to say thank you to my fellow board members, our commercial partners, our investors, our volunteers and most of all the fans who have been so good to me over the last seven years.

"I would also like to say a big Thank You to my wife Emma and my children Rhys, Harry, Harley and Lexie who have supported me and allowed me the time to give everything I had to get the club where it is today.

"Alty is a great club and you will always have a special place in my heart.”
