It's the dawn of another new season and the Robins are raring to go!

By Joe Brayne

Prepare yourself for an electrifying start to the 2023-24 Vanarama National League season as Altrincham welcome Dagenham & Redbridge to The J. Davidson Stadium this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

After an action-packed pre-season that saw us test our mettle in Europe, we enter Saturday looking to build on the momentum of our impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United under-21s last week.

Chris Conn-Clarke and Justin Amaluzor enjoyed a goal apiece in an entertaining affair watched by a bumper crowd of 1,740 and that featured two familiar faces in the United ranks in former Robin loanees Sonny Aljofree and Maxi Oyedele.

Alty manager Phil Parkinson expressed his satisfaction following Sunday’s victory, saying: “We’re really happy with the amount of minutes that we’ve got into our players legs over the summer.

“It’s been the toughest pre-season we’ve had. The calibre of opponents has been high from the start and all the way through to the end.”

As excitement builds for the new chapter ahead, Alty fans can settle their pre-game nerves in our revamped Fan Zone, with a free drink available between 1.30-2pm.

About the Opposition

The Daggers will be keen to improve on consecutive top-half finishes and push for a play-off spot in the upcoming season.

Under the stewardship of former player Ben Strevens, who took over as manager in March, the Daggers have seen a surge of talent arrive at the club, with seven impressive summer signings.

Striker Inih Effiong, who showcased his goal-scoring prowess with nine goals in 18 matches since joining the London outfit in February, will be a key player up front, filling the boots left behind by Junior Morias and Josh Walker.

Another particularly exciting addition to their attacking ranks involves the loan signing of Lincoln City striker Charley Kendall. The 22-year-old is a lethal finisher and a strong contender to finish as the league’s top scorer.
