Sam Mackenzie will step away from her role as Chief Executive Officer at the end of the current season.

She joined in September 2020 in a voluntary capacity as Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships, before being appointed to the Board of Directors in May 2021. Sam stepped into the interim CEO role in December 2023 and was confirmed as permanent Chief Executive in June 2024, becoming the club’s first female CEO.

During her time at the club, Sam was instrumental in driving commercial growth and strengthening Altrincham FC’s partnerships portfolio, contributing to sustained year on year growth in revenue and building long term relationships that will continue to benefit the club.

She also played a central role in the development and delivery of a number of important initiatives across the club, including the Warm Space initiative, which provided vital support to the local community, the launch and continued growth of the AFC Business Club, and strengthened partnerships with Altrincham BID. Alongside these, she supported a wide range of operational and welfare initiatives, working closely with players, staff and families to strengthen the environment off the pitch. These initiatives will remain a core part of the club’s ongoing strategy.

“Sam has made an enormous contribution to Altrincham Football Club during her time here. Her commitment, professionalism and commercial leadership have helped move the club forward at a crucial stage in its development. She leaves with our sincere thanks and very best wishes for the future, and she will always be welcome back at the J Davidson Stadium.”

Mark Luby, Chairman

“Sam’s impact has been significant, particularly in strengthening our commercial foundations and building relationships that will benefit Altrincham FC for years to come. She has been a valued colleague and friend, and we are grateful for everything she has given to the club.”

“I have loved my time at Altrincham Football Club and feel incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. It has been a privilege to work with such passionate people who care so deeply about this club and its place in the community.

“I will miss the place enormously. What makes Alty special is not just what happens on the pitch, but the people behind the scenes. Our volunteers are a vital cog in the Alty engine. Their dedication, energy and loyalty are the heartbeat of this football club, and I want to say a huge thank you to every single one of them.

“I leave with fond memories, great friendships and complete confidence that the club will continue to grow and thrive.”
