Bob Allan - A tribute to an Alty fan of nine decades
Words Brian Flynn
Bob passed away at Oakfield Croft Care Home on April 22, he was 95 years old.
Bob and his wife, Claire, who died in 2021, were huge fans of Altrincham Football Club for over 60 years, with Bob supporting the club from the age of nine!
Not only did they attend matches as season ticket holders, Bob & Claire were regular match and match ball sponsors and attended almost every club function from the start of the Millennium until the COVID 19 pandemic in 2020.
As a member of the monthly draw, from its inception, last year, Bob was a prize winner of matchday hospitality and his final visit to Moss Lane was at the start of this season for the home game with Eastleigh.
Sadly, Bob suffered a stroke that August Bank Holiday weekend, spending the next few weeks in a number of Manchester hospitals, suffering a second stroke during this time, but did return to Oakfield Croft Care Home, where he lived until his passing.
In January 2024, Bob and his daughter, Margaret, another huge Alty fan of over 30 years standing, featured in a special RadioAlty outside broadcast from Oakfield Croft Care Home, hosted by Pete Scotson.
Sincere condolences from everyone at Altrincham FC to Margaret & Bob's son-in-law, Paul on their very sad loss.
RIP Bob, we have lost one of our finest supporters & an absolute gentleman.
