Altrincham FC's Business Club is back tomorrow morning, and what a success story it has been since its inception just over three years ago.

Back in August 2021, members convened in what is now known as The John King Lounge for tea, coffee and hot breakfast rolls before settling down to a fascinating insight into the hectic, high-pressure world of FIFA referee and ardent Alty fan Anthony Taylor.

We could hardly have wished for a more distinguished, high-profile speaker to usher our Business Club into what has since proved an incredibly popular existence, and Anthony did not disappoint with tales of his rise to prominence, from humble beginnings in the Northern Premier League to Wembley cup finals and huge European occasions, to a spellbound audience.

It set the tone for our monthly Friday morning get-togethers, with a whole range of eminent speakers enlightening members and invited guests about their field of expertise with amusing anecdotes and interesting detail.

The gatherings have always followed the same formula of drinks and hot food at 8.30am followed by the guest speaker's address and then the opportunity for networking before dispersing at around 10am or soon after.

The Business Club has prided itself on the quality of its speakers and also the wide variety of topics covered, with industry, hospitality, education, media, the arts, strides taken by Kick It Out and, of course, every aspect and type of sport all featuring so far.

It's sport again tomorrow morning, with Alty's director of football Marc Tierney taking the microphone to reflect on a playing career that graced the Premier League and took in clubs like Oldham Athletic, Norwich City and Bolton Wanderers and look back on the first three months of his new role at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Don't forget, it's 8.30am in The John King Lounge for a breakfast that will set you up for the day, followed by a talk from Marc and the chance to network with fellow-members of the local business community.
