Alty's under-19 squad faced Boston United on Friday afternoon in their first National League Alliance fixture of the New Year.
After more than a month without a game, since losing 3-2 to York City, the young Robins were looking to make up for lost time by bouncing back from that narrow defeat.
Alty started the game strongly, defending well, having most of the possession and creating chances.
But after around half-an-hour, it was Boston who took the lead when a long ball over the top left their striker in a one-on-one with the Alty keeper.
He duly converted the chance to give Boston a slender half-time advantage, despite Alty being the more dominant team.
A couple minutes into the second half, Sam Chambers put in a good cross from the right wing, and Alty were level, as Edson Cata headed it in.
Not long after, the Robins went in front with a very similar goal, this time finished off by Sheriff Njie.
Leading 2-1 with about 30 minutes to go, Alty began to control the game and have most of the possession.
They turned it into a two-goal lead 15 minutes from time after winning a penalty that Owen German smashed down the middle to make it 3-1.
Alty continued to be in the ascendancy, but when a Boston player was brought down following a cross into the box, they were awarded a penalty that was converted.
It could have made for an anxious last five minutes, but Alty defended very well and kept their composure to see out this well-deserved win.
