For once, a trip to York City didn't end in an Altrincham victory, but it was still another high-octane, high-quality performance from the Robins as they more than played their part in an enthralling 2-2 draw at The LNER Community Stadium on Tuesday night.

Club photographer Jonathan Moore was on hand to capture all the best moments, and there were plenty of them as Alty twice came from behind with equalisers from Chris Conn-Clarke and, in dramatic fashion, second-half substitute Matty Kosylo to preserve their unbeaten start to the season.

Here, John Edwards describes how all the action unfolded, with the aid of a selection of photos from Jonathan's match portfolio.

"He's come back a different lad" was how Phil Parkinson described Elliot Osborne's outstanding start to the new campaign, and the in-form Alty midfielder is a study of concentration as he prepares for kick-off.

"I hope I get on at some point," thinks substitute Matty Kosylo in the pre-match warm-up. "Can't wait for my first touch if I do." It will be worth waiting for, Matty. Well worth it...

Ok, so conceding in only the eighth minute wasn't ideal, but when Chris Conn-Clarke is in the mood, there's always hope. Here, he brings the best out of keeper David Stockdale with a left-foot drive.

More than hope, in fact. After giving his close marker the slip with a brilliant change of direction, following a superb pass by Lewis Banks, the Alty attacker nonchalantly rolls the ball beyond the reach of Stockdale.

All eyes on the ball as it continues its unerring path towards the bottom corner of the York net. Another gem from Alty's record signing, and it's all square at one-apiece.

A sight to behold for Robins fans, and they've beheld it often enough, as the talented forward turns away to signal another addition to his Alty goals collection.

Just remind us again, Kossy, what was that you were thinking just before kick-off? Can't wait for your first touch if you manage to get on? Well, here it is, any second now, as fellow-sub Justin Amaluzor's first touch, a firmly-struck angled drive from the right, is parried into your path by the York keeper.

Wait for it .. head down, no slip-ups, just apply that right boot and...

... it's there! The cleanest of contacts ushers the ball over the line and into a gaping net, and there's nothing the York defender can do about it, despite a despairing late lunge.

What a double substitution by Phil Parkinson, with Justin's first touch creating the opening and Matty's finishing it off to make it 2-2.

How about that? Arms outstretched, Matty wheels away to take the acclaim of team-mates and travelling fans as Alty turn up the heat on the home team and go in search of a late winner.

They so nearly found one, too, when this piece of stoppage-time trickery from CCC opened up space for a shot that initially looked as if it might just be going in..

...only for it to keep rising and clear the bar by an agonising few inches, with Stockdale struggling to react in time, had it been a fraction lower.

Still plenty for the 214 travelling Alty fans to cheer, and, after getting behind the team throughout, they demonstrated their appreciation for the team's efforts at the end in a way that...

... was, in turn, appreciated by manager Phil Parkinson, who gave them all the thumbs-up! As Phil later said, here's hoping for a bumper turnout against Boreham Wood at The J.Davidson Stadium on Saturday.
