United open their doors to Alty volunteers!

Several Altrincham volunteers had a morning to remember at Old Trafford earlier today after being given an insight into the inner workings of one of the world's most famous football clubs.
In a gesture that spoke volumes for the flourishing relationship the Robins have built up with our globally-renowned Trafford neighbours, Manchester United kindly opened their doors for Alty volunteers to take in the trophy-laden museum and be shown round the ground on a stadium tour before being treated to coffee and cakes in the company of Operations director Jim Liggett and Mike Gibson from Corporate Communications.
The Alty party could not have wished for a friendlier, more patient or better informed guide than Richard Williams, and when he left us in the capable hands of Jim and Mike in one of the corporate boxes overlooking the pitch, we were treated to a fascinating account of all the day-to-day behind-the-scenes activities that keeps the United empire ticking over at both Old Trafford and the club's Carrington training base.
"We have a great relationship with Manchester United, one that has been built up over the last few years," said Alty director Sam Mackenzie. "I would just like to thank Jim and Mike for hosting us and making us so welcome.
"When Jim made the offer to me, I jumped at the chance to get some of our volunteers to Old Trafford and have a fun morning. We have discussed on many occasions the value they add to Altrincham FC. Manchester United are a fantastic club with great values, shown with the invitation they extended to us this morning."
