The Play-offs remain within reach

Alty's penultimate game of the 2024/25 Vanarama National League campaign is at The Chigwell Construction Stadium against relegation-threatened Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

Setting the Scene

Altrincham delivered an exceptional performance to keep hopes alive of a play-off place with a 3-0 win at fellow play-off contenders FC Halifax Town on Easter Monday.

Jake Bickerstaff opened the scoring with a brilliantly executed run and finish, before two goals from our top scorer Regan Linney took the game away from Halifax.

Monday’s victory kept our play-off dreams alive, as we sit in ninth, just three points behind Gateshead in the final play-off spot. Saturday’s opponents are also still fighting, but at the other end of the table – Dagenham & Redbridge are currently 21st and in the relegation zone.

Despite their worrying league position, Dagenham head into Saturday’s match in good form. They’ve earned 12 points from their last seven games, keeping four clean sheets in that time. With safety still on the line for the Daggers, Saturday’s trip to East London will be a difficult one for Alty.

The thoughts of Phil Parkinson

“They [Dagenham & Redbridge] are a very good team. Look at the FA Cup run they had, they’re very competent at beating anyone in this division and we can’t take anything for granted, as we found when we went to Ebbsfleet.

“It’s going to be really tough, a lot to play for, high stakes and I said to the players today, ‘big players turn up to big games’, and we needed them – they’re going to have to do it again next week.”

Earlier this season

September 2024 – Alty got the better of Dagenham in the reverse fixture between the two sides this season at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Dion Pereira scored a penalty for the visitors in the middle of goals from Regan Linney and Tom Crawford, which secured the points for the Robins.
